My childhood dream becoming true. The future is almost here.
There is a new alternative to the foldable phone already. Nubia has unveiled the Alpha, a device with a screen that curves along a wide watch like form factor. This display is 4 inches long, and operates using the Snapdragon 2100 wearables processor.
The screen is at least of good quality, and it’s big enough that you shouldn’t struggle to read it. It’s bright, vibrant and the icons are nice and big, so you’ll have no problems tapping and swiping on it.
You can use the phone to make and receive calls via the built-in 4G connectivity. It also takes pictures, tracks your fitness and pay for purchases, all with a simple tap. The camera can also be used to do video calls.
Nubia Alpha will hit the market in 2019 with two versions. Firstly with a retail price of 449 euros in the Bluetooth version, available from April. Second in version 4G (Yes it is), from 549 euros. Inside this, we will have the gold-plated version for 649 euros.
That’s a lot for a wearable that’s dysfunctional and looks extremely gaudy, but if for some reason you do not care you can have at it when it launches in April
